I have looked at jag forums and nobody seems to mention it as a problem and it doesn't look that common.

‘Hi, we fitted the new calipers and bedded in new Mintex 1144 pads all round. The rears squeal a little under light load.

My servo needed replacing. With the diesel, it might be a servo or the vacuum pump causing problems.

I have previously fitted a full set of your brakes (discs & callipers) to my 1964 E-type and have been very impressed by their performance.

The ultimate in this line is the XK120C, the legendary 150mph Jaguar C-type, of which just over 50 were made. The "C" stood for "competition" and this model was a purpose-built racer with an advanced spaceframe chassis and lightweight body. Most C-types have some sort of honourable racing history, from club events to victory at Le Mans. Later C-types had disc brakes, but cost from £100,000 into the millions.

That's all right for hardened experts, but it can be mystifying to the young blade who's bought his dream classic car and, just a few miles down the road, gone straight through a hedge into a field. (How on earth, he might wonder, did Stirling Moss and his like race these cars before they got those disc brakes? But they did.)

‘I fitted your brakes on my E type, front and rear, years ago. They’re brilliant, they have saved me on more than one occasion. I have more confidence & enjoy driving the car so much more!’

I have received my brake pads safe and sound, a very good service, if you let me have a list of other products or services you sell I would definitely use Coopercraft International again .

Then there's the lack of synchromesh on first gear, causing those who don't understand such antiquated machinery to make horrible grating noises.

Our conversion kits give you increased braking pressure and will therefore make your classic Jaguar stop faster for today’s driving conditions.

‘I recently purchased a pair of alloy calipers for the front brakes of my Series 1 E-Type and finally got around to fitting them this weekend past. I must first thank you for producing such a fine product that was a breeze to install as, unlike others that I have heard about, these units bolted straight on and required no shimming to make sure that they were centred.’

Gary19964 months ago

A better option might be to go for period modifications. What made Alan Clark's car so special was that it was fully modified for competition by the Jaguar factory. That specification repeated today would make for an exciting, authentic (and costly) classic car, but it's not something I would recommend to newcomers.

IT STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND ONLY APPEARS TO HAPPEN AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN IVE PUMPED THE BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES. IF I ACCELERATE A LITTLE, I HAVE THE ASSISTANCE BACK UNTIL I PUMP IT SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN. I HAVE NO VISUAL LEAKS AND FLUID LEVELS ARE OK. SERVO OR VACUUM PUMP ? WHERE WOULD THESE PARTS BE POSITIONED IN MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT SO I CAN CHECK FOR ANY SPLIT PIPES ETC. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

‘Fitted your alloy front calipers 6 years ago and I’ve done 30,000 miles in that time, never had better brakes, even on a modern car – they’re spot-on!’

petHead4 months ago

The brake booster sits between the brake pedal and the master cylinder. When the driver pushes down on the brake pedal, the brake booster amplifies the force exerted on the master cylinder. The result is that the driver does not have to push down on the brake pedal very hard to engage the car's braking system.

Our brake servos are original reconditioned units which are much more reliable than aftermarket units.  They are supplied on an exchange basis.

Corrie19994 months ago

This brake kit has been designed to replace the original Dunlop cylinder assemblies, easily fitted to the original carriers and retaining your original handbrake mechanism. The cylinders incorporate a modern style seal and piston and are designed to work in conjunction with our uprated front brake kits.

Servo / vacuum problems are common as far as I can tell, having Googled "S Type hard brake pedal", for example.
