Great to drive, efficency dynamics engine delivers good performance and excellent fuel consumption. Owned for 18 months and returned to dealer twice for minor problems. Good styling, performance and praccticality would definately choose a 1 Series again in the future.

Fully satisfied ,no problems, suits my style of driving.

R2_Amazeballs4 months ago

It has been reliable since I have had it. Fuel consuption is good particularly on the motorway for an automatic.

petHead4 months ago

One major failure of the steering column lock but apart from that it has been very reliable. Low road tax and servicing costs.

Car is good - Think the internal build quality could be improved - in particular around the door pillars where it meets the dashboard.

Col Minessota4 months ago

Never had a problem. Decent mileage for type of driving that is done.

MDG Ltd4 months ago

Only had the car 7 months but so far reliability good everything electronic so faults would be flagged up . 5 year service plan included . car tax only ł30 per year .

MechExp4 months ago

The control screen (for radio, telephone etc) does not work if you restart the car within 10 minutes of having turned the car off

MDG Ltd4 months ago

Not a family car --really for two people only --- Car very reliable running costs reasonable --paintwork excellent Run flat tyres give a harder ride and create some road noise Only critical point would be that the seats should have a better height adjustment

Red4 months ago

Apart from a pipe coming off the windscreen washer bottle the car had been very reliable. Good on fuel. expensive to replace tyres.

Mary4 months ago

Worst of all the snow and rear wheel drive. I will never own a rear wheel drive car again.

Bri19874 months ago

Brilliant but small car - but no surprises there. Disappointed by the stock levels (or lack of) of run flat tyres in the area when I had a puncture but this isn't BMW's fault.

Corrie19994 months ago

Never given me a problem. Not had a problem, so cheap. good fuel efficiency.

Fionas_Boy4 months ago

Model has stupid problem with blocked washers. radio has interference. syncro crunches a bit from 3rd to 4th when first used in cold weather on first change up. Cheap for a bmw but wouldn't want a puncture or to replace the expensive tyres!

Fantasticly fun little car, mean straight-line performance as well as through corners. The diesel engine ensures it performs on the fuel economy side too. I was surprised when one morning it let me down on the M1 however a BMW engineer soon came out and when he couldn't resolve the issue on site he resolutely escorted me to the nearest dealer. To sum it up: a brilliant drivers' car however you don't expect a >£1k bill on a car that of its age so perhaps a little unreliable.

Mary4 months ago

Millage now over 63,000 not had any problems. Servicing costs expensive, though they have recently come down. the fuel consumption is good considering my driving style.

MDG Ltd4 months ago

No problems in first 3 years but only covered 1600 miles to date. As above, no parts required.

Pete_W4 months ago

Can't fault it in the time I've had it it's not put a foot (wheel?) wrong! It's a company car, fuel consumption's the only bill I have to worry about and it's not too bad.

Porker4 months ago

Has so far proved to be thoroughly reliable. Fuel efficiency falls well below government figues.

R2_Amazeballs4 months ago

Excellent car (not great in snow) fun to drive, great build quality. one of the best cars I have evedr owned!

Bri19874 months ago

If your window motor has reached the end of it’s life cycle, it can be easily replaced at low cost with moderate mechanical knowledge.

Pete_W4 months ago

Only six months old but not problems at all so far. A delight to drive.

MDG Ltd4 months ago

Great car with no faults to date. Not as good on fuel as surgested by bmw.

Watergirl4 months ago

100% reliable since purchase. Other than fuel no costs incurred as yet.

BMW 1 Series window motor fault

Has never let me down. (oh dear bet that's torn it!). As a skilled mechanic I do my own servicing. bmw dealers are far too dear. parts are easily available and straightforwrd to fit. for a 2litre engine fuel consumption is excellent and even better on the later models.

Gary19964 months ago

Not owned long enough - however previous bmw120d was very reliable

Mary4 months ago

It is reliable but very bad in snow being a rear wheel drive. Service charges are high at dealer ship they rip you off but not very costly if one goes to a reliable service garage, and the parts have to be replaced on which ever parts gets needs replacing and are more or less same as the other makes.

Fionas_Boy4 months ago

Never had a problem (yet). Fuel good, bmw parts cost a lot.

petHead4 months ago

Generally reliable but needed all ignition coils replacing under warranty as well as an engine sensor. Very economical for a 2.0 petrol engine, low servicing costs but only average road tax and insurance costs. Just the right amount of power for everyday road use.

Bri19874 months ago

No problems - new car. Good - doesnt get anywhere near the claimed mpg figures just like all cars.

Red4 months ago

No problems at all. Good diesel usage. no spares yet required.

Fionas_Boy4 months ago

Overall I like the car, just dissappointed with teh performance, (1.6 petrol) and ride quality. Had two faults fixed under warrenty so far, wasn't expecting any with a BMW.

Porker4 months ago

We had a manager leave and I ended up with the car. The 1 series had such good reports I was sure it would be a good car. Nothing but niggles electric windows stopped working last week in the snow, so did the mirror dip this started to work again yesterday.

Bri19874 months ago

Most later model vehicles rely on window motors to deliver the kinetc energy to the window regulator required to move the window glass up and down.

FordOwner4 months ago

It has never let me down. Acceptable except for rising cost of fuel which is hardly the vehicles fault.

Col Minessota4 months ago

I love my car. It is fantastic to drive, reliable, great for the kids and all their sports stuff and my shopping and looks good to boot. It was a fantastic choice and I am well pleased with it.

Mary4 months ago

One (recurring) minor electrical problem; had attention 4 or 5 times; much better now, although not quite 100% perfect. Serrvice incl package as part of purchase deal. onle costs re winter tyres.

Excellent 123D Engine best diesel I have ever driven

Fionas_Boy4 months ago

Some of the problems stem from the previous user of the car.
