Had car 3 months so far over cold winterno problems at all. Thirst for fuel expected to be higher than average as is a powerful engine but on motorway crusing is very economical.

Gary19965 months ago

Only problem which is why I rated it 4 my car is garaged overnight on one or two occasions I have left the interior light on , only to find the car has a flat battery in the morning. It is what it is when you have a large engine.

petHead4 months ago

No problem at all experienced in the first two years

Mary4 months ago

GOOD & RELIABLE CAR. ONLY PROBLEM WAS A BATTERY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 4.5 YEARS. ORIGINALLY DIAGNOSED AS A FLAT, RATHER THAN, FAULTY BATTERY.

Thanks to all contributors for their information, their enthusiasm for this project, and reminders where I had forgotten something !

The car has never broken down or prove unreliable. It has just cost me almost ł500 to replace worn front and rear brake pads and front discs.

Col Minessota4 months ago

It hasn't broken down yet but it's not very old. I have a feeling the engine is thirsty.

Col Minessota4 months ago

Thanks for your replies. Any idea how much a fuel sender unit is? Cheers

MechExp4 months ago

Generally good. one problem with the brakes, seems ok now. Not bad for the size of car it is. feel it could be more frugal with fuel on the motorways, feels short of a sixth gear.

MechExp4 months ago

No problems in three years. Price of mazda spares is very high.servicing costs are average.

Col Minessota4 months ago

No problems in the three years that I have owned a mazda. Needed new tyres. didn't wear as well as the previous car.

Col Minessota4 months ago

The car has run for 17000 miles without any mechanical problem and always started 1st time even in very cold conditions. the sensitivity of the automatic lights are slightly questionable. The fuel usage are in line with the advertised combined fuel consumption and the mixed type of mileage I am doing.my front low profile front tyres are due to be replaced the rear are fine.service cost at 12k miles was about ł216.

FordOwner4 months ago

Only fault was failed fuel guage sender. In 42,000 miles only had routine servicing, I get 47.9 mpg, which includes towing a caravan for 10% of mileage.

Bri19874 months ago

Usual mazda reliabilty cannot be found at fault. Fuel consumption much less than the desiel version. sorry I changed model.

The Club Magazine, ACtion, is published monthly except for January. The back pages hold classified ads for cars as well as parts and contributions include technical articles, event reports and historical reviews from the archives.

petHead4 months ago

Totally reliable. Heavy fuel use on short journeys, better when on longer trips.

MechExp4 months ago

Uterly reliable to date. Cannot comment accrately since no servicing carried out yet. so far, costs improved from previous vehicle, ignoring fuel price hikes.

Corrie19994 months ago

I have run up 55,000 miles in 2.5yrs and can report no problem. very reliable car

petHead4 months ago

Several recent makes have a sealed fuel system. At all times they must have about the same pressure inside and outside the tank. Such systems are also maintenance free.

Red4 months ago

No problems in two and half years. Consider to be very economical.

Bri19874 months ago

Never had any issues. It what I expect for the type of car I have.

Corrie19994 months ago

Never had a problem. Petrol comsumption is not good but apart from that running costs so far are ok.

Fionas_Boy4 months ago

No problems yet. starts in all weathers so far. Petrol mainly, but I do drive at speed.

Bri19874 months ago

Starts each time. I worked on a sheet that gave me a good idea of running costs for the car, and it has pretty much kept to that.

Bri19874 months ago

Do not attempt to repair a tank yourself. If it is leaking or rusted through, replace it.

The fuel used in a modern car, whether petrol, diesel or even LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas), has to ...

Red4 months ago

After an initial problem with an o2 sensor the car has been trouble free and very reliable

Watergirl4 months ago

AC 2-Litre fuel gauge fault

Ask a helper to watch the fuel gauge, then switch on the ignition. Disconnect the fuel-gauge wire from the sender unit and scratch its bare end against the tank, or any other bare metal on the chassis or bodywork, to earth it.

Col Minessota4 months ago

In 3years have had no problems. It is quite expensive on petrol but I new that when I purchased it.

Gary19964 months ago

No faults to date. Cost of spare parts considered to be high.

R2_Amazeballs4 months ago

No trouble at all since new. very reliable. Very fuel efficient but service costs are relatively high.

MechExp4 months ago

Really reliable always starts and copes with all conditions. Quite thirsty on deisel even as it is driven carefully.

Corrie19994 months ago

Consistent and never causes any problems. Mpg much less with motorway driving especially at higher speed and with cruise control.

Matchmaker14 months ago

Generally good, engine replaced at 55k, no oil pressure. Average cost per week 75.00, great all round family car.

Bri19874 months ago

Alternatively, hold a metal bar against a lug and tap gently with a hammer. Take care not to bend the lug. Take off the sender carefully. Inside there is a long arm attached to a float. If you bend the arm, the gauge becomes inaccurate.

petHead4 months ago

It's as reliable as I expect it to be. No comment.

Gary19964 months ago

Have had no problems with car since taking ownership. The car is used on different journey types, mainly short distance 3-7 miles but also to visit family, round trip of 170 miles. have not carried out precise calculations.

Watergirl4 months ago

No problems but very angry that mazda have secret alert which makes the dpf light flash and manual directs you to go immediately to dealer when there is nothing wrong with vehicle

Porker4 months ago

Absolutely zero problems! Car mileage not as good as my previous two vw passats.

petHead4 months ago

Reliable in all weathers and conditions, only requires an annual service. Whilst the mpg overall is good the price of petrol dictates that the mpg should improve to counter the cost.
