Honda owners claim that the problem begins as a few patches of slight discoloration, where the paint appears lighter or duller than the surrounding area. Eventually the clear coat starts to pull back from the car and chip the paint. This continues to grow into a full-fledged peel-a-thon until your car's paint job starts to resemble swiss cheese.

I bought a 2009 Honda Civic coupe back in 2012. It had 26,000 miles on it and the paint looked flawless. A couple of months ago, I noticed that the clear coat on the roof was flaking off. Now I'm noticing it flaking on the trunk and the hood. The car looks like crap. I love the car but I hate the way it looks. Is there anyway I can get help with this situation?

Being first time to the Honda brand based on good reviews, build quality was a major dissappointment, dealership cannot seem to fix car first time regarding creaks and rattles. It required a complete new steering column after 1 1/2 years old? Overall let down by too many niggles.

very happy with the car one thing I must mention is two gearbox bearings had gone on that time. I phoned honda and even though the three , year warrenty was up they still agrred to pay all labour costs, which I thought was nice.

Conflicting ratings in the various categories of the Driver Power survey see Honda’s ever-popular Jazz supermini drop down the overall rankings; since 2010 the Jazz has consistently slid from a high of 11th place overall to 84th in 2015. Its performance, general comfort and technology get a pounding, though its reliability is almost beyond reproach (5th place overall), its practicality great and its build quality excellent. Running costs are ranked favourably by owners, too.

Most complaints come from those with a dark paint job, with colors like blue, black and red.

As you know it takes a team to get things to be taken seriously. I am a fighter and I will not let Honda get away with this. They robbed me of my money the moment they sold it to me. Having to service it for paint in just 3 years after purchase brand spanking new is a fraud. Here is my email if you are interested in doing something about it or if you can help me.

I owned my 2006 white Honda Accord brand new and around the rear window my paint was peeling!! Dealership told me it was from stone chips!!! Not on around the rear window!! Body shops told me it wasn't prep correctly from the factory!!! I even had a Honda rep I had to fight with. He was saying stone chips too!! I flicked the paint with my fingernail!! Honda did eventually pay for it.

Day to day running is fine but disappointed with, leaks, air con failure, eats tyres, air leaking from rims

Porker4 months ago

Basically a very good economical car. It's let down by over-hard suspension and lack of illuminated switches/controls, no intermittent rear wipe and no adjustment of speedometer illumination level (dims too much to see it clearly if you need lights on for any reason in daylight).

I have a 2002 Honda Accord. For at least 5 years the paint has been bubbling and peeling. It started on the bumper and now covers the entire car. Honda will not stand by their paint job. I was told it was my problem to fix. Except they have put subpar paint on many cars b/c there are many, many complaints about the paint.

unexciting, reliable, solid and practical and reasonably inexpensive to run

Only needed windscreen wipers replaced since I bought the car

No problems up to date. Apart from petrol I have had no additional cost which I would expect from a new car.

The Jazz is a brilliant little car. The way the back seats fold gives it a superb load carrying capability. It is totally reliable. There is one deficiency in that it tends to mist up more than other cars I have owned.

Bri19874 months ago

I've got a Blue Civic that I bought new in 2001. The paint is badly faded on the hood, roof, and trunk. I've noticed other Civic's with the same issue. Maybe it was because Honda used cheap paint or paint with no lead. Quotes to repaint it range from $1,000 to $18,000. That's more than I paid for the car when it was new. So, guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I have been a big consumer and a large supporter of Honda. Traded in every 3 years, also recommend to my co-workers about how Honda was very attentive to their customers. This had changed when I had called the American Honda Motor Co., Inc a few days ago. It was confirmed that my 09 Civic was one of those cars that HAD an extended warranty. Honda Extended Paint Warranties on 2006 - 2013. Thank you for letting me know Honda it was ME calling you. No letter sent, email, phone call, NOTHING.

16 months and 39,000 faultless miles ! I can get the advertised 62 mpg but less on driving lessons, as I am an instructor.

Honda Fit bonnet fault

Absolutely bullet proof reliable. Maintenance services are quite expensive.

I have been please with the Jazz for 4 and half years, but let down by the dealers costs, ie; 2 wipers blades and element filter £130 what a(rip off) now at 32500 miles needs a new gear-box cost £5000 that's 40% what I paid for the car in th first place. Thanks to Honda UK they supplied me with a new gear-box free of charge but I had to pay £752.56 for fitting it!

According to owner testimonials the most susceptible areas are the hood, fenders, around the gas tank, the trunk and the roof.

Two minor problems and a couple of annoying buzzes are all we can complain about in all the time we've owned it. Compare that to the Metro we had before and it is a revelation.

Long story short, I called another 15 times, give or take. Every time I got the runaround and no one could help me. It's now the middle of August and someone has FINALLY returned my call regarding this and wouldn't you know it, I've been denied alternate transportation and they will just order me the part to have my car repaired. Who knows when that will even be. Of course, I may have to pay out of pocket for the defective off switch on the airbag so that was some GREAT news to hear.

I am very upset about the paint on my 2010 Honda Civic. I take very good care of my car, no accidents, no dents or scratches. Now the paint is fading down to the metal on the car. It looks horrible and is getting worse by the day.
