The driver's door latch assembly can break internally, which causes the door to stay closed. The interior and exterior door handles do not work to open the door. Our technicians note that the door panel must be removed while the door is closed (likely damage will occur) and the latch assembly must be drilled in a specific spot for the door to open.

Is there any "how to remove the door panel"?

Snow had fallen in my car when I went to open the door and it landed on my arm rest which has the control panels for the doors and windows. Ironically, the auto windows work fine and my daughte...

Once again, everything except removing and re-assembling these stupid rods isn't that hard. I will be replacing my right one soon, so I will post some pictures.

the problem is the key does not work either. I believe the tumblers or something else might be bad. The key did not work before i replaced the acuator. Another question, how do I now get the door open when it is locked, I was able to lift and see down in where the acuator is. Is there a spot on the acuator or latch that I can bypass the electronic lock and manually unlock the door to get it open, thx.

After some research, it turns out the original door actuators are actually pretty cheap vietnamese pieces of sh** and eventually fail one by one. Ebay is full with replacements, it's the same part for Acura TSX, Odyssey and others, didn't even cross my mind to contact the stealership about this part..

Yep, that's the price. Take a look here for removing the door panel.http://clubhondaspir..._by_parruso.pdfIt's in spanish, maybe you can use google translate on it.

Aaaaaaaand, again, connecting the long rod to the door lock is hard as .., had to glue the plastic and push it with a big screwdriver to clip in. Also, wasn't sure if it will hold up in place after I slam the door, so put a zip tie around it, just in case.

petHead4 months ago

Then, you can remove the whole lock with the actuator from the door and replace the actuator, this is clearly shown on the youtube tutorials, no rocket science here as well.

The remote will lock the doors and open the trunk. The unlock button makes the sound but none of the doors unlock. I cannot get in the car. Please give me some direction.

If you can't move the seat back far enough to partially remove the door panel to access the lock mech you might have to have a lock smith use a slim Jim to unlock your door.

- impact screwdriver for the three screws which hold the door lock, you might get away with normal, though

I'm not sure I've explained this quite well. To summarize, you'll need:

I have a 2005 honda accord and the drivers side door lock would not work either with the remote or pressing the switch on the door itself. the other door locks worked fine. I replaced the acuator on the front drivers door and it fixed it for about 10 minutes then stopped working. The question is now the door is closed in locked position and I cannot get the door opened even by trying to manually pull up on the lock, it won't budge. Do you think the new acuator is defective or other problems. thx

- removal of the rod which connects to the door handle (not easy, but doable, remove it from the central lock unit and NOT from the door handle, this is much easier)

Porker4 months ago

Well, I had to replace mine left central door lock actuator (LHD) recently, and as Nuno said in the beginning of the thread - not an easy job. Actually, very difficult job to do.

If the key won't open the drivers side door you can open the trunk. Directly beneath the keyhole (inside the trunk) that you would normally use to unlock the back rest on the rear seat is a latch you can pull. When you pull the latch it will drop the back rest of the seat down so you can crawl in and unlock the car and get in. Not sure why the key won't open the door from the outside.

There are some good videos about changing the door actuators (search for Acura TSX door actuator), basically after removing the door card, you need to disconnect all wires and the window guide, these steps are relatively easy and don't require some special skills. Here comes hell:

I would double check the installation of new actuator. Try placing key in door lock to unlock it so you can get it back open.

- removal of the rod which connects to the door lock  - very difficult, actually had to break the little plastic which holds the rod in place, I didn't find another way of removing this
