We strive to do our best at all times, trying our hardest and consistently setting higher goals
We are all very proud of our school and what we achieve through working together. The school has a particularly strong reputation locally for the work we are doing in supporting accelerated reading development in the early years of your child's education.
Located in a former library and community centre in De Beauvoir Town, East London, Open School East is a unique space that brings together:
Central to Open School East’s approach is a commitment to foster cultural, intellectual and social exchanges between artists and the broader public. We do this by opening our study programme outwards, responding to our locality and providing an informal environment for the sharing of knowledge and skills across various communities – artistic, local and otherwise.
The school was particularly proud of the Outstanding Grade achieved in all areas in the most recent OFSTED Inspection (October 2013), and the incredibly positive nature of the report.
This year we are investing considerably in new technology for the children to enhance their learning experiences with equipment such as laptops and ipads.
We care about each other and offer care and guidance to make sure everyone feels happy and knows who to turn to

We want our children to feel part of the learning process, ensuring our curriculum is active, fun and vibrant
Anna has been AHM of Thorne since 2010 and thoroughly enjoys boarding life. She is a regular helper at international events and the LEAP course. Anna loves cooking both at home for family and friends and also at the cookery club with students. Anna is supported by her husband Norbert, 10-year old daughter Olivia and their cat Lily.
Our school is situated in Smallthorne and provides quality education for children aged 3 to 11 years old.
Pupil achievement at the end of Year 6 continues to be higher than the national standard and we remain extremely proud of this fact.
Open School East was founded in 2013 in response to spiralling tuition fees and student debt, and the decrease in both studio provision and civic spaces in the capital. It was instituted as a space for artistic learning and production that is experimental, versatile and highly collaborative.
Our children enjoy a terrific start to their school life in our Nursery and Reception classes which are bright and engaging and both classes open up onto a wonderful playground and outdoor sheltered learning areas.
Our aim is to ensure all children achieve a high standard in work and behaviour at all times within a supportive and caring environment. Children's progress is regularly monitored by the leaders of the school and support targeted where appropriate to help meet this aim.
Welcome to our wonderful school. We are a very friendly, forward thinking and passionate school and we take pride in all that we do for the benefit of our children.

We believe that every achievement should be praised, shared and celebrated
Visitors to our school are most welcome and we strongly recommend that prospective parents visit us to see our school in action.
We believe that a partnership between home and school is essential and we work extremely hard to establish and maintain this link. The school has been assessed as meeting the standards of the Leading Parent Partnership Award..
