The Church Road Campus is the third largest campus operated by Colchester Institute. The campus first opened in 1976 as a result of the merger of North East Essex Technical College with St Osyth Training College which resulted in the formation of Colchester Institute.

The College at Clacton caters for a wide range of students including school leavers on full time courses, adult learners undertaking part time evening study, and 14-16 year olds on school link courses.  There is a Centre for Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, and a successful walk-in style learning shop for adult learners to improve English, Maths, ICT and employability skills.
