The parents and pupils were informed this afternoon, and the public consultation is open until January 5.

At CGSB our aim is that students develop into successful, well rounded, confident young men who are equipped with the academic and life skills necessary to thrive in the modern world.

Chatham Boys was only the second grammar in the county to be put into special measures by Ofsted in June 2013. Now Good, the school leaders believe the time is right to make the change.

For each review case, samples of work from the last two terms of Year 5 and the first term of Year 6 will be requested from the child’s current school in the following areas: English, Maths and Science.

Musicians are invited to participate in the new School Orchestra with rehearsals starting Tuesday 20th September. All years and staff are welcome but you must have your own instrument and not be an absolute beginner.

To ensure that the process is made easier for parents/carers, a standard appeal form for any school they named will be included with the offer letter (for those schools/academies that have agreed to use such a form). Appeal requests for Academies, Foundation and VA schools must be lodged with the Clerk of the Governors at the relevant school/academy.

The Medway test is to be used for Medway Grammar Schools only and the Kent test is to be used only for Kent Grammar Schools. The results will not be transferable as in previous years.

There were smiling faces all round at Chatham Grammar School for Boys (CGSB) on Results Day as students celebrated another record-breaking set of GCSE results.  Around half of all students achieved at least five A*/A grades, and many gaining over ten top awards. Whilst strong results were enjoyed across the board, some of the most outstanding…

If your child is not successful in the Medway test and you wish to appeal against their result, you have two choices. You can apply for a Review of your child’s case or you can Appeal. If you have applied for a Review and it is not successful an Appeal can only be heard if there was a technical fault in the way that the Review was conducted.

After 200 years an under-subscribed boys grammar school which dates back to 1817 could be set to open its doors to girls.

11 Oct - Open Evening 6:00 - 8:30pm (School closes to students 12:30pm)

If they wish to request a review, parents/carers must submit the request (using the form provided with the assessment decision letter) by the deadline date. Primary/junior schools will be requested to submit review work by 10am on the published date.

They also would need to change the name of the school, and have suggested Holcombe Grammar School or Holcombe House Grammar School, reflecting the site the school is on and the way former pupils call themselves ‘Old Holks’.

Students at CGSB are given the academic and intellectual tools to help them structure their thinking and learning effectively thus enabling them to engage successfully in their academic studies. In addition to this we believe in developing our students, understanding of how their brain works and how to deliberately use their brain in the most effective fashion for both academic and personal success.

The pass mark in Medway is calculated as follows. Firstly the scores are standardised, giving a minimum score of 70 and a maximum score of 140. Then the individual test scores are weighted as follows:

Chatham Grammar School for Girls Rainham Road Chatham Kent ME5 7EH

In a letter sent out by executive principal Stuart Gardner and other senior leaders, the plan was outlined for girls to be allowed into the school at Year 7 starting from September 2017.

In the letter to parents Mr Gardner said: “If the school were able to move to a secure intake of 118-120 in each year group then the school would be able to offer students greater breadth of curriculum choice and greater support.”

Historically it has been the second preference boys’ grammar school. In 2014, only 55 people made it there first choice, while for 160 it was second behind the Rochester Math School.

Review decisions will be sent to parents/carers by letter on the published date (as shown above). No review decisions are sent via e-mail.

He said it would be “an exciting opportunity for parents in the local area to have a greater choice in the type of education they would like their son or daughter to experience”.

Students at St. John Fisher School are set high aspirational targets and are provided with a wide range of opportunities which will enable them to use and extend the skills and talents they have been blessed with.
