Wantage in Oxfordshire is a lovely small market town in the Vale of White Horse, and has a good range of shops and services, including plenty of places to eat and drink. Links with the past are very strong too and Wantage is a great place to visit to enjoy this historic part of England.The towns buildings are mostly 17th and 18th century with narrow cobbled streets and passages.

On our doorstep is the Ridgeway and lots of pretty Oxfordshire villages; great for countryside walking, followed by a pub lunch!

Links with the past are very strong too and Wantage is a great place to visit to enjoy this historic part of England; it is the town in which King Alfred the Great was born. We also have literary connections in Sir John Betjeman and Thomas Hardy.

There is one state secondary school in Wantage, King Alfred's Academy, and some ten primary schools. The secondary school recently converted into an academy and is currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted. A former independent preparatory school, St Andrew's, established in 1926, closed permanently in 2010. Between 1873 and 2007, an Anglican private girls' school, St Mary's School, was located in Wantage.
