Knowsley council has cancelled its funding for this year’s Christmas lights across the borough, but a local campaign has successfully raised the funds for Prescot’s lights and secured a donated tree.

Its website and social media platforms highlight some of the town’s main attractions and events, while its badges and bags have proved popular with local people and visitors.

A local group also celebrated this month after receiving a Green Flag award for clearing and sprucing up St Mary’s cemetery and historic churchyard .

Prices were also up 4.2% on the previous September, spelling good news for homeowners - and one local expert said much of the growth was in Huyton and Prescot.
