Lilleshall National Sports Centre features 5 squash courts, a fitness gym and has a golf course nearby. As a training centre for international athletes, there are also a number of other sporting facilities that can be used by guests. Pre-booking is required and these facilities incur an additional charge.

In 1914, a year after the 5th Duke succeeded to the seat at the age of 25, he decided on the outbreak of the First World War that it was unwise to have so much of his riches tied up in land and property. He sold the entire estate except the Hall and 50 acres (200,000 m2) of gardens, with less than 100 acres (0.40 km2) being purchased by Wrekin College. He then decided he wanted to live closer to London and sold the remainder of the estate in 1917 to Sir John Lee.
There is a monument, a cricket club, a tennis club, a church and a primary school clustered around a bracken-covered hill named Lilleshall Hill. Lilleshall Monument is a 70-foot (21 m) high obelisk, a local landmark which stands on top of Lilleshall Hill and was erected in honour of the 1st Duke of Sutherland.
Founded in about 1148, this Augustinian abbey became a private residence after the Reformation, and was severely damanged during the Civil War during a Parliamentarian siege. Despite that, much of the church survives, and is viewable from gallery level. There is also a lavishly sculpted processional door and other cloister buildings.
