Haslingefeld appears in the Domesday book with a population of 400, but there is archaeological evidence of people living in the vicinity 3,000 years ago[citation needed]. An Anglo-Saxon cemetery was discovered in the 1870s on Cantelupe Road, but unfortunately not carefully excavated.

The church of All Saints was consecrated in 1352,[2] and while much of the building dates from the 14th Century, the chancel walls date from the 12th century.[3] On White Hill behind the village there used to be a small chapel but all trace has since disappeared. The Tudor manor house was built by Sir Thomas Wendy, lord of the manor at the time, and used to be a very large house; today only one wing of the house remains, although it has been recently[when?] renovated and extended.

All are warmly welcome to join our Village Joint Harvest Festival at All Saints’ Church together with Haslingfield Methodist Church.

It is with great excitement that we are really pleased to announce that we will shortly be opening the doors to our new florist shop in Church Street, Haslingfield.

The village sign shows Queen Elizabeth I who stayed one night at the Manor in the year 1564. During her stay she is supposed to have lost a ring and a number of ring hunts have been held in recent times.

The village has a primary school, two churches, a village hall, a pub, two shops, a large recreation ground (complete with new children’s playground, tennis courts, football and cricket pitches) and a skate-board park. Our many clubs and societies cater for all interests and ages.

Please note the 10:30 start and the service will be followed by a Bring and Share Lunch at All Saints’.  In organising lunch All Saints’ are bringing savoury dishes and Methodists are bringing the sweets – there is a list on the table just inside the church to check what others are bringing.

The name Haslingfield is thought to be derived as follows: -field is an Anglo-Saxon suffix meaning cleared land in site of woods, while Hasling probably derives from the Haeslingas, a local band of people that lived here.

The economy of the community has been based on farming for most of its existence. There was a short period of mining for coprolite,[4] used to make fertilizer in the late 19th century. The Earl De La Warr sold his estates in Haslingfield to John Chivers who planted fruit for his jam-making factory in Histon.

This bespoke production comprised funny sketches, moving and light-hearted poems and wonderful songs by some of the greats of our time. The show was great fun to do, and judging by the audience's reactions, they really enjoyed the performance as well. To see some photos from the show, please click here.
