Allardyce is heading abroad "to chill out and reflect" after leaving his role as England manager after just one game in charge
Sam Allardyce has called up Southampton reserve goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to the England squad.
Although first choice goalkeeper since his arrival at Southampton, it was only after the retirement of Kelvin Davis in the summer of 2016 that Forster was finally handed the traditional goalkeeper's "number 1" shirt at the club.
Forster won his first cap for England on 15 November 2013 in a friendly match against Chile at Wembley Stadium. England lost 2–0 but Forster was "blameless" for both goals, making a "fine diving save" to deny Chile a third. This appearance against Chile saw Forster become only the second person ever to play for England whilst a Celtic player, after Alan Thompson in 2004.
Updated 23-man England squad for 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in Trnava
Joe Hart, on loan at Torino from Manchester City, and Burnley's Tom Heaton are the other goalkeepers named in Sam Allardyce's first England squad.
On 12 May 2014, Hodgson named Forster in England's 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In England's last warm-up game before the tournament, on 7 June, he replaced Joe Hart for the last 15 minutes of a 0–0 draw with Honduras. Forster travelled to Brazil with the rest of the England squad but did not feature in any of the three games England played.

England should not even be trying for the next world cup, nowhere near ready and in Russia. drop all the players and concentrate on a new squad of youth to be ready for 2020
We have not replaced any of the departed players with proven prem quality but worse still is the fact that this season we should have strengthened the squad to have a chance at competing on all fronts !! Sorry but not good enough. Bring on the thumbs down but I agree with the majority that our ambition is gone.
Midfielders: Dele Alli, Michail Antonio, Eric Dier, Danny Drinkwater, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Wayne Rooney, Raheem Sterling, Theo Walcott
Not to worry - at least we have strength in depth. Oh - hang on a minute.......
Forster was selected for several England squads during 2012 and 2013 before finally making his first international appearance in November 2013. He was named in England's squads for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016.
But Forster has suffered a disappointing blow to his international prospects after picking up an arm injury, with Southampton sources revealing he will now be leaving the England training base at St. George's Park.
Amidst speculation linking him with a transfer to Southampton, Forster played in Celtic's first four games in the qualifying rounds for the Champions League. Celtic lost 4–1 away at Legia Warsaw, with Forster saving a penalty from Ivica Vrdoljak. Celtic eventually won the tie on away goals, after being awarded a 3–0 win for the second leg due to Legia fielding an ineligible player in that game.
Don't remember Mane being proven premiership quality when Saints bought him nor was Pelle, Wanyama and Radix. Let's get rid of VVD as he was not proven premiership quality when he was bought.
Celtic again qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the 2013–14 season, and again played against Barcelona at Parkhead on 1 October 2013, losing 1–0. Despite the defeat, Forster again impressed with several excellent saves, in particular an outstanding double save near the end of the match. Forster also pulled off a crucial save during a 2–1 win on 22 October 2013 over Ajax at Parkhead, saving from Thulani Serero when he seemed to be clean through on goal.

Forster’s injury is not believed to be serious, but the club’s medical staff will assess him and decide upon a treatment programme.
And on the south coast....... The news for saints fans just gets sh1tt3r!!!!!!
They will also discover whether the injury is likely to sideline him from first team, and, if so, for how long.
Forster withdrew with an arm injury suffered in Three Lions training, dashing his hopes of pipping Joe Hart to the No 1 shirt for Allardyce's first game in charge against Slovakia in Sunday's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Defenders: Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne, Phil Jagielka, Danny Rose, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, John Stones, Kyle Walker
I apologise - we have huge 'strength' in depth and the sky is filled with marshmallow clouds, the sun is really a massive custard bowl and lollypops grow on trees.
Forster, Fraser - Southampton (ENG)
Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).
C'mon, be serious......... there are three keepers at the club (and one out on loan); how many do you want?
McCarthy joined Saints in the summer as deputy to Forster but has yet to feature in a game.
The new England boss has overlooked West Brom's eight-times capped Ben Foster — the only other available first-choice English keeper in the whole Premier League.
Saints last week brought in Stuart Taylor, the former Arsenal and Manchester city keeper, on a free transfer to act as the third choice keeper.
On 20 November 2009, Norwich City announced that they had agreed a deal with Newcastle United to extend Forster's loan until the end of the 2009–10 season, after impressing the Norwich faithful with his displays, helping the team shoot up the League One table. He was also allowed to play in Norwich City's cup games. Norwich City manager, Paul Lambert praised "world class" saves and a terrific contribution to the team.
The former West Ham and Sunderland boss has attracted criticism for playing route one football during his 15 years in the Premier League
McCarthy was signed this summer from Crystal Palace as cover for Forster should the keeper be ruled out for any period of time.
Forster, 28, has impressed for Southampton over the last 12 months and was hoping to add to his six international caps, which have all come in non-competitive games.
The ex-Crystal Palace keeper has played three times for England's Under 21s.
Uncapped McCarthy, 26, was called up after Forster, 28, returned to his club for treatment on an arm injury.
BBC are showing 'pointless celebrities' at the same time as the game, I think the England team could do with a similar title.😁. If the weather is nice I will probably go for a ride on my motorbike as the road's may be quieter.
Meanwhile, at U21 level, Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has been called into Gareth Southgate's squad for Tuesday's Uefa European Championship qualifier against Norway in Colchester as a replacement for Chelsea's Dominic Solanke. Reading midfielder John Swift and Sunderland 'keeper Jordan Pickford have also pulled out of that penultimate home tie.
