Kyla Clancy and the University of Rocky women’s golf program captured titles at the Frontier Conference golf championships on Wednesday. Clancy’s three-day total of 232 was four strokes better than UGF’s Gina Kowolchuk (236). Lexi Pyette and Rachel Miles of Carroll College finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Pyette totaled a 253 while Miles was one stroke back at 254.

And he could pull up from 25 (feet), 28, it didn’t matter where. He could pull up from anywhere and just drain it. Former Carroll College offensive lineman and executive vice president of the Cleveland Browns Bryan Wiedmeier passed away Tuesday. He was 57. Wiedmeier was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer in October of 2012 and was given only 15 months to live. He would go on to live nearly four years after the initial diagnosis.

Melinda (Owen) Withrow, a Polson native, advanced to Sunday’s finals of the pole vault at the Olympic Trials at Hayward Field. Withrow, 31, cleared 4.35 meters in the qualifying round on Friday. She is one of 14 women who will vault on Sunday attempting to earn a berth at the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil. Jenn Suhr, the 2012 Olympic champion, has the top qualifying height of 4.50 meters. Sunday’s finals are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. (MST).
