The club was founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse F.C., playing on a field near Fosse Road. They moved to Filbert Street in 1891, were elected to the Football League in 1894 and adopted the name Leicester City in 1919. They moved to the nearby Walkers Stadium in 2002, which was renamed the King Power Stadium after a change of ownership in 2011.
That’s heroically bitter. You can close the book for my favourite email of the season.
The city has historically had a strong association with the production of textiles, clothing and shoes. While important companies such as Corah, Liberty Shoes and Equity Shoes have closed, companies such as Next and Boden are still active in the city. Moreover, in recent years the higher transport prices and longer lead-times associated with globalised production in Asia mean that some textile manufacturers are locating to the city.
The club have been FA Cup finalists four times, in 1948-49, 1960-61, 1962-63 and 1968-69. This is a tournament record for the most defeats in the final without having won the competition. City have several promotions to their name, two play off final wins, and one League One title. In 1971, they won the FA Community Shield, and in 2016, they were runners up. They have also won the League Cup three times in 1964, 1997 and 2000, as well as being runners up in 1964–65 and 1999.

5. Toni Kroos. Another with sky-high passing stats and reportedly restless at Real Madrid. There couldn’t be a better Premier League purchase. Well, Lionel Messi.
In Walsh, Ranieri saw a friendly face when he arrived in Austria. The two worked together at Stamford Bridge, where Walsh was a scout for 16 years, and Ranieri knew how highly the former school teacher, who has been a central pillar of Leicester’s success with his remarkable track record of uncovering rough diamonds, was regarded by Rudkin and the club’s owners.

Ranieri, who took over from the sacked Nigel Pearson in the summer, was seen as an uninspired choice by some fans and pundits after his predecessor had overseen a run of seven wins in nine games as Leicester escaped relegation in 2014-15.
Musa has been playing in Moscow since 2012 and he enjoyed his most prolific season in front of goal in 2015-16, scoring 13 goals in 29 Russian Premier League outings.

Leicester fans consider Nottingham Forest to be their main rivals. The club's other rivals are Derby County. An East Midlands Derby is any match involving two of these three clubs.
Yeah, to be honest I think he’s taken Leicester as far as he can.
Anyway, this is not what Wales did. As of Tuesday morning they were the tournament’s top scorers with six. Gareth Bale leads the individual chart with three. Wales’ four first-half goals were also a table-topper. They blasted their way to the top of Group B with a pugnacious, uncomplicated style.
90+1 min Abel Hernandez wins a corner and then gulps in some air as he moves slowly into the box. Hull have put in such an admirable shift today.
The popular chant from Leicester fans - that striker Vardy "is having a party" - was never more true as the forward held a get-together at his home for team-mates to watch the Tottenham game.

Ranieri, crucially, was happy to work with the club’s existing staff, including Craig Shakespeare, who also holds the title of assistant manager and has a close rapport with the players; he is out on the training field with them every day. Rather than seeking to make sweeping changes, which may have affected his chances of getting the job in the first place, Ranieri chose to complement what was in place by bringing in three staff of his own.
55 min The Hull fans are booing Gray for his part in the penalty. He was clearly fouled, it’s so tedious. They really do have something to boo about when Musa flattens Snodgrass and is not penalised by Mike Dean.

Seven of that XI have started at least 33 of 36 league games this season. Of the other four players, Okazaki has made the fewest starts with 27. Settled and consistent, the team is also vastly experienced. Schmeichel and the back four in front of him, together with Okazaki and Vardy, are aged 29 and over. They are men – not boys – and it has shown in their mental strength during the run-in.

In that sense Ranieri came to realise he would not be able to impose his way at Leicester and get everyone to blindly follow. It was a case of old habits die hard, especially when they delivered results. Players saw the five-a-sides on a Friday as a staple diet of their week and were not afraid to express their thoughts on the type of sessions being put on and how long they lasted. There was, in short, a resistance to change and, to an extent, Ranieri learned to go with the flow.
Former Leicester, Everton and England striker Gary Lineker described his hometown team's achievement as "the biggest sporting shock of my lifetime".
Teams are allowed to lose games. There’s no point over-reacting. But then there’s no point telling people not to over-react, because mature, understated responses don’t cut it in 2016, grandad. That’s a worry for Leicester, who could be steadily undermined by external hot air. We’ll see. Thanks for your company, bye!
